How it all began. . .

While serving as a youth minister, I discovered that most youth ministries planned the same two trips every year - whitewater rafting and snow skiing. Being an avid outdoorsman, I saw the opportunities were unlimited when it came to adventure retreats for youth groups. Through much prayer and consideration, one tent, one lantern and a handful of contacts, in 1998, I started Outdoor Adventure Ministries.
By creating Outdoor Adventure Ministries, my staff and I are able to assist youth ministers, college/career ministers, singles ministers, Sunday school teachers, and church leadership with the planning of quality adventure retreats.
God has blessed Outdoor Adventure Ministries with the opportunity to share His love through the beauty of the great outdoors. We count it a privilege to be able to work closely with church staff members in the planning and executing of quality adventure retreats. If your group is ready for one of the greatest adventures they will ever experience, give Outdoor Adventure Ministries a call today.

Chris

Thompson

Chris has been with OAM since it began. Having hunted and fished all of his life, he is a well versed outdoorsman. You'll normally find Chris in the background acting in a support role. He's the one cooking, cleaning, and splitting firewood. Ocassionally, we do allow him to lead a few skits or teach - this is when his background as a camp counselor comes in handy.
During the week, Chris works as a Senior Analyst/Programmer for Novant Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. When he isn't helping with weekend retreats, he can be found spending time around the house with his family, hunting or fishing, or working on his father's farm in Eagle Springs, North Carolina.

Chris is very active in his church. He works with the middle and high school youth groups. He also serves as an usher and teaches the 4th - 5th grade boys Sunday school class.
